Keep it up!!!

Last Sunday we fellowshipped with Rev. Stith and First Macedonia Baptist Church for their Family Day, and had a wonderful time in the Lord. The youth ministered for the first time away from home and made us godly proud as they represented Shield of Faith. The first Sunday in Oct, we will be traveling to Boley, OK to fellowship with Pastor LuGrand and St. John Baptist Church.

Practice makes perfect

OK, OK, I know one can never really be perfect (i.e. without flaw). But practice does makes a difference. I know even as a preacher new in the ministry, my father in the in the ministry (who is also my biological father), believes in allowing people to exercise their gifts and talents. Since God called me to preach he allowed me to exercise that gift often, which only made me better at it.

Getting in front of people is one of the scariest things a person can do. All those eyes staring at you waiting to see what you are going to do or say, piercing even your very soul. Ok, maybe a little too much, but it feels like that sometimes. I know because of the opportunity it paid off even in school. When going to University of Phoenix, we were constantly giving presentations in class. Although, I was still scared to death, I can across as quit comfortable in front of people.

That really brings me to making a point. Some may see practice for anything unimportant, but really its all about preparation. I want them to get to a point where they come across as comfortable. This will also build life/business/leadership skills as they overcome the fear of being in front of people. LYTE is helping our youth transform. To some it may seem like they are just dancing and waving flags/streamers, but just like the transformers, "There's more then meets the eye."

LYTE - Leading Youth Toward Eternity

This past Wed before bible study I started working with my children as the church's worship arts ministry. Although they have been home all summer and will be home schooled this year, I am grateful for the time set aside for just them and myself. We worked on a dance routine and will incorporate streamers also. I might add it went pretty well and am looking forward to a dress rehearsal in two weeks and maybe ministering the first Sunday at the 11am service. The artistic worship ministry with be the start of our youth ministry call LYTE - Leading Youth Toward Eternity. I order some dance dresses and more streamers, and I know this will be the start of something great.

Don't take the time with your children for granted.
